Had the pleasure of working on a beautiful Dell XPS laptop, unfortunately it no longer powered on
 
the symptoms were when plugging in the Power supply / laptop Charger the light went out, this points to a short on the motherboard
 
after dismantling the laptop and checking the motherboard for obvious signs of failure, we found a blown mosfet, now your average mosfet size is around 8mm x 8mm with 8 or 6 pins to solder, these mosfets were 3mm x 3mm with 8 joints to solder as you can see from the picture compared to a penny they look very small, so i should really call this micro soldering
 
once the 2 mosfets were changed then tested for any other shorts to system found a shorted capacitor on the battery charging, so also replaced this
 
added a new Dc jack and as good as new

My first windows 11 computer in the workshop, customer was scammed into allowing the Amazon Scammers into his computer, phoned me, i recommended to him he get straight on to the bank and alert them for any suspicious activity, they had just tried to use his credit card for an online purchase, checked pc over and found they had harvested his credit card details and passwords, removed a suspicious file that was attempting to keep the remote assistance open and logging key strokes

The person on the other end will threaten to terminate / cut off your broadband, unless you allow them to fix your computer / network

These are all LIES constructed to frighten you into downloading software to your computer that will allow them access to your files etc

PLEASE DO NOT FALL FOR THIS
PLEASE DO NOT DOWNLOAD THEIR SOFTWARE
PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY FINANCIAL DETAILS

Just hang up the phone and go about your day as normal

Pres the windows Key + R on your keyboard>in the run box type "control">Click Ok> in control panel click on System> to the left you will see System Protection click on it> a dialog box like our picture opens if your main drive Usually C is switched off then click Configure> the next dialog box click the radio button that says turn on System Protection the click apply the click OK to exit
